Huawei HCIE-Storage Written Exam (H13-629) Study Guide

Prepare for H13-629 with storage solutions, design and tuning, high availability, migration, and advanced operations.

H13-629 is the written exam code for Huawei’s HCIE-Storage expert certification. It focuses on requirements analysis, storage design and tuning, implementation, and maintenance. Expert questions expect you to combine migration, backup, disaster recovery, and performance objectives into a complete solution. HCIE may also include a separate lab exam; confirm the current policy and lab code.

Huawei’s published HCIE-Storage V2.5 material lists four written-exam areas: key storage knowledge, design and tuning, storage solutions, and maintenance/troubleshooting. Versions can change, so follow the latest Exam Outline on the Huawei Career Certification page.

Written exam reference

Area V2.5 reference weight Study focus
Key points of storage 30% Architecture, data protection, technical principles
Storage design and tuning 20% Requirements, capacity, performance, configuration trade-offs
Storage solutions 40% Migration, backup, disaster recovery, high availability
Maintenance and troubleshooting 10% Monitoring, performance analysis, issue handling

Expert-level reasoning

Start with RPO/RTO, data growth, business continuity, performance, and budget. Compare local redundancy, remote replication, active-active designs, backup, and recovery. State which failure scope each mechanism covers and how recovery proceeds.

Common confusion: Active-active does not automatically mean zero data loss or zero downtime. Consistency, quorum, link failures, and application failover need explicit design. Migration plans also need validation, a cutover window, and rollback.

Prepare for written and lab stages

For the written exam, derive an architecture from requirements and explain trade-offs. For the lab, practice deployment, performance validation, fault injection, and recovery. Write executable steps with verification commands and expected results.

  • Select backup, replication, or disaster recovery from RPO/RTO needs.
  • Explain performance bottlenecks and how storage configuration affects workloads.
  • Plan migration, cutover, validation, and rollback.
  • Confirm written/lab exam codes, versions, and formats separately.

Keep practicing

Use data-center storage scenarios to analyze protection, performance, and continuity goals. Start H13-629 practice.
